This was a free project where I could pick a project that I wanted to spend 6 hours working on. I decided to take this opportunity to open my own online plant nursery. This required me to use my skills I have learned about website building. I also had to do some research to learn how to open not just a Weebly website but a website with an online store. Here is my final adventure project: rootinforyah.weebly.com/
For the second draft I made it so that the sushi plate would be interactive. If you want roe on the third roll you can click your mouse. If you want ginger on your plate you can press the space bar! For this assignment I completed the first 14 lessons in "Intro to HTML". So far this is one of my favorite types of coding! It simply covered everything you need to know in HTML including elements, bodies, structure, headings, attributes, text, videos, etc.
For this project my assignment was to find a students project then make a spin-off. In the spin off I was allowed to alter the project any way I wanted while still following the project guidelines. The first picture below is the original project and the second picture is my spin-off! Here is the link to the original project: www.khanacademy.org/computer-programming/spin-off-of-project-build-a-house/5852311175593984 Here is the link to my spin-off: www.khanacademy.org/computer-programming/spin-off-of-project-build-a-house/5173756643868672 For this house I wanted there to be a more detailed yard, so I added grass and stone walls. I kept the original color of the house but I changed the color of the windows, roof, and door. I also added lines to the windows and a door handle to make the house more realistic! At the last minute I also ended up adding some stars in the sky and changing the background so that it would be night time.
For week 9 I was assigned to complete the last 3 units in Khan Academy. The first unit, "Objects", focused on a teaching me how to store complex and related data in what JavaScript calls "Objects". The next unit, "Object-Oriented Design", and spent time explaining how to use "object-oriented concepts in JavaScript to make more re-usable code." The last unit, "Becoming a Better Programmer", focused on introduction to more complex ideas and it also taught me how to pass on my knowledge to other beginner coders. For this project my goal was to complete the units "Logic and If Statements", "Looping", and "Arrays" in Khan Academy. Logic and If Statements focused on teaching me how to make my code more usable by "grouping it into functions, and then make those functions accept parameters and return values." The next unit, "Looping", focused on a new concept that taught me how to use loops in my code to repeat an action many times. The last unit, "Arrays", taught me how to store multiple values in variables using arrays. For this project I was assigned to do units 6-9 in Khan Academy's "Intro to JS". The 6th unit explained how you can make you programs interactive, for example, making a shape follow the mouse around the screen. The 7th unit was very challenging! It focused on how you can use math expressions in your code to make one variable dependent on another. For example, you would use a math expression so that when the smile face's head gets bigger or smaller the mouth and eyes also change size depending on the head size. The 8th unit explained how you can use text in your code and how math equations can be used to add text together. The 9th unit explained how to make parameters and return values in your code.
